The Creative Process, Part I: T-Shirts!

Hey, Airwavians! Christina, here.

On the previous post, we mentioned that we have a new line of merchandise currently out. This includes a brand new T-shirt design, 1″ buttons (to match our existing patch design), and album art with a corresponding poster design. All can be purchased at each of our shows!

To sum things up: I am a visual artist by trade, and I serve as the in-house designer and art director for the band. Our merchandise, gig posters, logo, and various other collateral are all designed by myself. It’s been an awesome opportunity to put all of my best skills to work with Crowd the Airwaves since its conception!

Occasionally, I get questions on how my design process actually works. I love learning about the production process of other artists, because everyone has their own way of doing things. I would like to start a series of posts to show you my workflow.

This time around, we’re going to take a look at the new t-shirt design. The shirts were printed by Bands on a Budget. I highly recommend them; they are friendly, communicative, and are very helpful during the proofing process.

We Are Crowd the Airwaves

Hello, everyone!

We are Crowd the Airwaves, a garage rock band from the outer boroughs of New York City. Founded in August of 2013, we’ve taken our hard-hitting blend of punk attitude, classic rock harmonies, and alternative grit to the bars and clubs of Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens for the past year. Now that we are on the cusp of our debut EP release, we’ve decided to take our fans along for the ride via this blog.

So welcome CTA fans! Or if you’ve just managed to stumble across us randomly…congratulations! Maybe we can convince you to stay a while and see what we’re all about.

If any of you were around during our tumblr days, you’re probably already familiar with me. To those who are new to our blogging adventures, I am Becca and I will be your guide through our wild escapades, misadventures, and musings. When I’m not blogging I also play guitar in the band. Yep, that’s me in the Ramones shirt. Yeah, the really short one. Hard to miss.

What can you expect from this blog? For the most part, this will be a weekly or biweekly update on what we’ve been up to at practice, at gigs, in the studio, or on the road. Sometimes it may offer sneak peeks of things we are planning that you might be looking forward to. Additionally, I take the time to walk you through the standard daily realities of being a working musician in the big city. As you may learn from my future posts, it’s no easy job!

So once again, welcome and I’m glad to have you on board. I’m looking forward to sharing my experiences and those of the rest of the band with you all! Stay tuned, follow us, and keep in touch!

Until next time!

Becca
